Greg has been practicing law for more than 20 years and mediates a wide range of cases. He has a great amount of experience in civil litigation and is ranked among Utah’s Legal Elite, named a Mountain States Super Lawyer, and enjoys an AV (preeminent) rating by Martindale-Hubble. Greg began his legal career as a judge advocate in the United States Navy, where he was named Senior Defense Counsel for the greater Washington, D.C. area and twice decorated with the United States Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
After moving back to Utah, Greg worked for the state’s largest law firm before hanging out his own shingle. Greg has represented both plaintiffs and defendants throughout his career. This not only affords him essential insights into the mindsets of both plaintiffs and defense attorneys, but it also allows him to conduct his mediations without any preconceptions or biases, which tend to form after years of advocating only for one side or the other. Widely respected for his even temperament and professionalism, Greg understands the emotion involved in litigation and is adept at solving problems and bringing parties together.
Greg continues to practice law, staying on the cutting edge of legal issues and trends, which benefits his mediation practice greatly. Greg’s work frequently takes him to locations throughout the state, which allows him to schedule mediations without charging parties for his travel expenses.
Greg received his mediation training at the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine School of Law. He also has received advanced negotiations training at the U.S. Department of Justice National Advocacy Center. Prior to that, Greg received his juris doctor degree at the S.J. Quinney College of Law at the University of Utah, where he was a William H. Leary Scholar. And, prior to that, Greg received a Bachelor of Arts degree (cum laude), also from the University of Utah, where he was inducted as a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
