Mr. Carlile has enjoyed a 40+ year career in litigation, including both bench and jury trials in both state and federal courts. Mr. Carlile has offered certified mediator services since 2017and has participated in numerous mediations as a party representative and as a mediator. His broad experience in transactional matters including banking, business separations, contract drafting and disputes, and bankruptcy and insolvency litigation, inform his measured and profound understanding of these complex issues.
Mr. Carlile’s clients have enjoyed significant successes, including banks impacted by large fraudulent mortgage schemes, and the State of Utah in one of the then largest property and casualty insurance company insolvency proceedings in the nation.
Mr. Carlile maintains an AV Preeminent (5) rating with Martindale-Hubbell, which is the highest rating awarded to attorneys for professional competence and ethics. He has been included on the list of The Best Lawyers in America© in Commercial Litigation and has been included in Mountain States Super Lawyers in the category of Business Litigation. After 18 months of service abroad as associate area legal counsel for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mr. Carlile is now Of Counsel to Ray Quinney & Nebeker, P.C. where he continues his litigation and mediation practice. He is a certified mediator through Northwestern University School of Professional Studies. He has extensive experience in the following areas:

In 1978, Mr. Carlile graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in accounting. He then attended the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University where he received his law degree in 1981. Following law school, he clerked for U.S. District Court Judge David K. Winder.
Mr. Carlile and his wife have been deeply involved in community affairs serving in a variety of elected and appointed positions. He is a past president of the Provo Rotary Club and served many years on the Utah County and Provo City Planning Commissions as well as Boards of Adjustment. He also served on the boards of the local Habit for Humanity and Provo Housing Authority and many other civic and educational boards.
