H. Dickson Burton

Mr. Burton is the senior trial lawyer at TraskBritt, a nationally recognized Intellectual Property law firm.  Mr. Burton has deep experience and success litigating and trying complex business and IP disputes in courts around the country.  While Mr. Burton continues an active litigation practice, he is frequently called upon to serve as a mediator, arbitrator and expert witness in various patent, trade secret and other intellectual property and complex business cases.  He is known in courts across the country as a creative, trusted and highly successful advocate, and he applies the same creative and dedicated approach to mediating challenging and complex disputes and to helping parties reach the best possible resolution.  Mr. Burton has completed advanced mediation training from the Harvard Negotiation Institute at Harvard Law School, and from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Geneva, Switzerland.

Mr. Burton has been honored for many years in Best Lawyers of America, Chambers USA and SuperLawyers, including as one of the Top 100 lawyers in all of the Mountain States, and as Intellectual Property Litigation “Lawyer of the Year” for 2015 in Salt Lake City.  Mr. Burton served as President of the Utah State Bar in 2018-19.  He has been an Adjunct Professor at the University of Utah College of Law, and has written and lectured extensively on the subjects of patent litigation, trade secrets, covenants not to compete, and Internet law.
