Former District Court Commissioner
Thomas N. Arnett, Jr was appointed to the Third District Court as a Commissioner in June 1991 and retired in 2013.
After graduating from the University of Utah in 1969, and from the University of Utah College of Law in 1976, he engaged in private practice from 1976 to 1991. He served as Chair of the Utah Bar Family Law Section, the Courts and Judges Committee, and as a Bar Examiner. Mr. Arnett is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court.
As a Commissioner, Mr. Arnett served on the Utah Supreme Court Advisory Committee on the Rules of Professional Conduct, and the Utah Judicial Council Committee on Alternative Dispute Resolution. He was also a faculty member at the Utah Judicial Institute and has made numerous presentations to the bench and bar as well as other organizations.
Mr. Arnett attended mediation training at CDR Associates in Boulder, Colorado and at the ADR Department of the Utah Administrative Office of the Courts.
