Mr. Rappaport attended Columbia College, graduating in 1965 with a degree in political science. He attended law school at Columbia Law School, receiving his JD in 1968 cum laude. He was an editor of the Columbia Law Journal of Law and Social problems.
Mr. Rappaport served as a law clerk to the Honorable John W. Oliver, Federal District Judge, in the Western District of Missouri.
He was a founder of the law firm Cohne, Rappaport & Segal, P.C. from which he recently retired. He has been an A.V. rated attorney.
Mr. Rappaport’s area of practice has been heavily concentrated in real estate: commercial and business litigation, real estate finance, real estate related litigation, mortgage loans, real estate development, zoning, as well as construction law.
When the Utah Supreme Court required mandatory continuing legal education for bar members, Mr. Rappaport was appointed by the Supreme Court as one of 15 persons to the newly constituted Utah State Board of Legal Education to establish and implement rules and procedures for the continuing legal education program. He was subsequently appointed to the Board of the Utah Supreme Court for a second term.
Mr. Rappaport has been a lecturer of the National Business Institute and has lectured to attorneys, real estate professionals and title company personnel on “Real Estate Law” and “Advanced Real Estate Law.”
